The initiative, promoted for the second year in Milan by the FánHuā Association and Zhong Art International, was realised in collaboration with Cineteca di Milano in the very central and historical hall of the Cinema Arlecchino, whose management has passed into the hands of the Cineteca itself in April 2022. The event was held under the patronage of the City of Milan, the Chinese Consulate and the Italy China Council Foundation.

At the opening, on Saturday evening at 8.30 p.m., guests and public lingered in the foyer for a toast before entering the auditorium.

In the movie theatre the Cineteca Director Matteo Pavesi introduced the institutional representatives in attendance, Liu Kan, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Milan, and Isabella Menichini of the Culture Directorate - Entertainment Area representing Councillor Tommaso Sacchi, whose video-message was screened.

Xiuzhong Zhang, President of the FánHuā Chinese Film Festival, explained the aims of the Association’s initiative, thanking the institutions for their support and all those who had contributed to the success in Milan.

The best films from the Festival's 2022 programme were shown in their original version with Italian subtitles and introduced by Paolo Bertolin, the Festival's Artistic Director.

The audience, attentive and participating, was comprised of Milanese and Chinese belonging to all generations. On Sunday afternoon, for the animated film, many excited Chinese children and young people were among the audience.

At the end of the event, the organisers greeted the public with a warm goodbye till the next Chinese New Year!
